Crafting in China :)

Hi folks !! This time round I've been inspired by the east :):) Chinese, it is! :) Flavours of the orient have engulfed me :P Ok I'll stop being so dramatic!
I had taken up a temporary assignment at my son's school in the month of February. My job was in the administration department and involved a lot of phone conversations. So guess what I was doing while answering queries? Yes, I came up with some ingenious craft :D I've made a piece with just small squares of recycled sheets of paper, a bit of UHU glue stick and cello tape.
First, I rolled up individual small squares into tiny cylindrical ones and secured them with tape. I then stuck them all together to create a 'bamboo sticks' effect, and created two levels.
Then I created two small oriental fans by just folding two small squares.
The levels I created are more clear in the photo above I guess. I painted them a bright red and brown.
Finally, I painted the fans and decorated them a bit :) Voila, it's a Chinese piece of artsy craftsy decor all ready :)
Does it look Oriental enough? I simply loved the way the colours have come together. And it's very interesting because I just made it up by my own imagination, and I think it looks very pretty! What do you think? :) Drop me a line :):)

Walls with Character ~ Shruti

Have you seen the craftiest blog ~ Mindful Meandering…. Here is featuring Shruti’s walls with character….
When we bought our apartment we wanted one room to be kept absolutely empty for Lil P to play in. We kept the floor area clear of any toys or furniture as she was still a crawling toddler back then.
But we also wanted the room to be fresh and colourful. My daughter loves flowers & butterflies. We wanted to incorporate that in a room that was entirely hers.
We bought vinyl wall decals and put them up on the walls ourselves. It took us 2 hrs to set it up and my daughter loved it. Though we no longer stay in that house and had to (unfortunately) leave the wall decals as is, I'm happy to have our tenant's daughter enjoy the same room now.
Isn't that the cutest??? What do you think?

In the Spotlight ~ Green Thumb decor

Did you enjoy the ‘In the Spotlight ~ walls with character’ series in Jan & Feb? I received a great response to that series and while I still have a few more walls to show you, I'd like to introduce the March & April series of ‘In the Spotlight' and it's called 'Green Thumb Decor'. Now don’t say.. you don’t have any greens in your lovely homes! Even a little plant?? Really?? *smiles* The Green Thumb Decor series will feature the use of greenery and related decor around your homes, balconies, gardens, indoors or outdoors etc.... but I would like to not only limit it to greens... so please feel free to send me pics of all your plant related decor - bells, dwarves, mushrooms, fountains - I'm waiting to see all the creativity I know is out there! I’ll start this series by showing you a few pictures of greens & outdoor settings of my home…. And then during the next two months… I'm hoping to make a trip to Hatta to buy a few earthen pots & pretty thingys…. And show you the transformed garden….
Can you spot my little dwarfs... ??
These plants definitely need some improvement... so watch out for this space to see how they'll look by April... (I hope!!) *smiles* I'm linking to a few blog parties...
