The Weekly Story ~ wk 11

Its simply been a super busy week at work.. with year end.. and mountains of things to accomplish..

I spent the weekend... doing a little bit of shopping.. and then dreaming of my trip to Myanmar.. I so so loved it..

The image about was how paintings were sold on the road side.. The artists would sit next to the paintings as well... so you could interact with them.

These rain drums have my heart for sure!! I'm going to get one at some point. I love the idea!! and they look so stunning.

The sham tribes and their weaves. Isn't that so nice.. She could sit there for hours weaving..

Now in one of our hotels.. this was a little brown umbrella on the ceiling.. used as a lampshade.. Interesting isnt it?

I like when hotels get a little creative...

Wooden Cart

When I was in Burma I saw these gorgeous wooden carts in a little village that we went to...

And my heart was set on bringing one back home.... with the endless possibilities of how gorgeous it would look in my garden..

or if I could use the wheels somewhere.. Would you use it?

So when I came back, I googled to check if these carts were used in home decor.. and here is what I found..

I like how this one is painted..

The Weekly Story ~ wk 10

Hello my lovelies... Have you had a lovely weekend?? The weather in Dubai has been a bit weird, which just means... we've generally been sick, feeling low and weird... I had a strange kind of week... one that simply didn't seem to move. Like no matter what I did, I felt as though I didn't accomplish much.

A simple ‘life’…

Gratitude is one of the sweet shortcuts
to finding peace of mind and happiness inside.
No matter what is going on outside of us,
there's always something we could be grateful for.
- Barry Neil Kaufman

This is truly the motto of my life… I believe.. in counting my blessing… and when I do!! … the problems look so worthless…

Now... since this is meant to be a decor blog, a few 'must haves' for me..

1.       De-clutter your space… Give away what you don’t need… I’m sure you know someone else who can use it.
2.       This just means, that a clean and clear space is the most important
3.       Use colours lavishly… trust me… colours can change your mood instantly…
4.       Add a few lights and lamps in the corners… And watch the romance grow…
5.       Oh... throw a cushion on the rug… and a shawl on the sofa… that’s instant comfort…
6.       Don’t spend too much money on furniture or furnishings… It doesn't have to be expensive to look good…
7.       Show off your craft and your kids craft… Keep it on a tray on the coffee table or dining table… or simply hang it on the wall..
8.       Make your home a reflection of yourself… Don’t do things for others to see… or coz someone else said it looked good… Believe in what you think or feel looks good…
9.       And if nothing works… brew a hot cup of tea… and invite me… *smiles*..

The Weekly Story ~ wk 9

I'm still dreaming of my Myanmar holiday. It was truly lovely... very different to any place I've been to earlier. I say that all the time.. isn't it...

We landed in Yangon, then went onwards to Bagan, Mandalay, Heho and Inle lake. All in all... it was a beautiful trip...

Our hotel in Mandalay.. I don't remember what it was called... had this log that was used as a bookshelf.. Over the trip.. I noticed hotels using such barks to place candles.. flower pots and loads of decorative ideas..

This simple table decor idea.. of an inverted glass was my favourite.. What do you think?

Rangoon Tea House 2

The Rangoon Tea House is located at Lower Middle block of Pansodan St between Mahabandoola and Merchant Street in Myanmar... Looking at the building, you would never image that something so beautiful and stunning awaits you!!

This is how the interiors look...

giving you a feeling of the old... blended in with the new..

The Drinks menu... with chais in all shapes and sizes..

Table decor..

What's interesting is a few shelves full of old antique stuff..

Some stuff on these shelves is also for sale..

Remember I told you about these windows in my earlier post... Here is the window display!

See the rain drum also used as a center table..

This is curd in clay pots..

And their table decor is simply cute..

So tell me what you think of this little pretty decor at Rangoon Tea House..
