Happy Halloween

Its Halloween... !! Like I said... we didn't have time enough for Halloween decor or to organise a Halloween party this year... 

But the girls tried their hands at decoupage on glass... I think they did a fairly good job... LOL

The Weekly Story ~ wk 99

Hello my lovelies... How have you been?

This weekend... was our long weekend.. and I had vowed to do nothing... and thats exactly what I did!! Not completely true... Since I've been so busy with my older girly for three weeks or so .... this weekend was dedicated to my younger one....

So we did all the fun stuff that she loves ... watched three movies, went to the beach early in the morning, swimming, play areas, parks, and lots of absolutely rubbish craft work... 

The three of us are going to be busy for Halloween this year... so we decided not to put up our decorations... Its the Shujaat Khan concert on 31st Oct at DUCTAC, my girlies have over night camp in school...

*sigh*... but we still did two simple DIYs that I have to share with you.... Here is the first one.. 

Using spray paint and old bottles available at home...

Here is the work in progress... We used silver & orange...

and transformed those sad and boring bottles... to these cute halloween tea lights... 

The orange ones were spray painted from the outside.. and the grey one from the inside... but both looked equally pretty... 

This one was the cutest.... 

The grey one.. wasn't a huge success... I guess it was a wrong choice of colour.... What do you think?

Oh.. and last year... my friend.. Aisha.. shared this recipe for Halloween Cookies .. so if you are going to try it... Do send me an image.. *smiles*...

DIY Rangoli

Now that's what I truly like about you (yes.. YOU... all those who read CD)... You are so super creative... wow!! Im so impressed!!

You've seen Bhupali sharing with us her ideas on how to upcycle cardboard to makes gift boxes or tissues boxes.. 

Today ... in time for Diwali... she shows us how to make 'recycled rangoli'

A little about Bhupali...

I am Bhupali Joshi a microbiologist but now a full time Homemaker. I enjoy and utilize my time with my daughter and creating some art stuff.

While discussing about 3 R's i.e. reuse,reduce and recycle with my daughter I thought of this and the result was a beautiful hand-painted portable rangoli!!!

I got a new set of bowls few months back with a packing material which I converted into rangoli patterns.

Its as simple as that... and I'm sure you can try it too... go on and make some rangolis.. and don't forget to share your pics with me... on coloursdekor@gmail.com

The Weekly Story ~ wk 98

I simply haven't had time to do anything this weekend... *sigh*... and I really do mean it. Sims performed her first Kathak piece and I was busy helping.. rather playing my part as a mommy coordinator for the show... So its been a busy weekend....

But I'm looking forward to a slightly slower week... a week of clearing and preparing for the festive season...

Oh.. and talking about the festive season... you know I've been preparing for a while now... 

Sharing with you today... the drama on my 'mango wall'.... *smiles*

I asked a few friends... what comes to their mind when I say 'India'... and here are the images I got in return... simply printed out of google...

Christmas gift from my little cousin... finally finds a space... 

Truly the whole wall evolved around this gift... The idea started off with... how can I place this on the wall... and hence the mango square... and other things Indian....
