...a peep into my closet
...have you had your mom yell at you for keeping a messy room or an untidy closet? Mine did! and quite often!!...and when I wouldn't pay much attention to her yelling...she would happily dump the entire closet on the floor. Imagine entering your room to find your clothes, perfume bottles, earrings, your special possessions lying on the floor! I would get furious and be in tears but to no avail! My amma would just say..."This is my home, and until you are here, you will do as i say" !! I would equate my amma to Lalita Pawar for being so mean...!
Today, when we have made our own homes, I am so thankful for my amma for being so strict and being the disciplinarian. If my amma taught me loads of good stuff, my aunts taught us how to fold the sheets, the pillow cases and towels and sarees and.....:-) It had to be done a particular way... No arguments there....I am sure my aunts are smiling when they read this and today...I often thank these wounderful ladies for all their teachings...*smile*.
Now a quick peep into some of my closet spaces...
The kitchen pantry...
The Linen closet...
The 'Godrej' version for the precious Sarees and Chudidars... from office depot
Crockery space...
Trunk used to store comforters...
Most of my FB friends have seen this...my earrings 'store' from early last year...
What does your closet look like? Tell us,... Adios!

Great post-organization is so important...everything must have a home. My closet is fairly organized, just have to work on the shoes and am considering something fun for all my jewelry. In the meantime, working on my kids closets.

ReplyDeleteNice, I like your crockery and the trunk and the red cushions! I can go to extremes, on some days I just let things be where they are, but on some days I spring clean like I'm passionate about it :) But I love the process!
ReplyDeleteNo Anpu, you really do not want to know what my closet looks like. Specially after seeing this...i had better hide in one of them. All your closets are so organised and handy. Very very inspiring. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have to add, your mother sounds so much like me :D. My mother is too soft and she would clean up my cupboard :). Me, I tell the kids, clean it up or it goes to Salvation Army :)

Very neat!! I am sure your family members would be really happy to see that.
ReplyDeleteA couple of weeks back, I was telling my mom- 'I really feel bad about how I used to throw around stuff in the house and force you to scold me to keep things at their proper place. Now that I am in 'my' house, I keep everything so organized.'
BTW... was that a blank after 'folding saree'. If yes, I think I know what word fits in there ;)
Thanks Tanya...I loved your blog posts on candles and Rangoli...they were just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes...once you are on your own, and make your own home, you start realizing how awesome moms are! Just keep thanking her as she has made you a beautiful person and guided you unrentlessly...:-)
Ahh there are so many things, that I can write abt that all the wounderful women keep helping me with ...a hint here, a word there...
Example - Try using teh Microfiber cloth for cleaning...I swear..it is the best cleaining aid...I have ever seen. 30 sheets for $4.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond...they are reusable and you can throw into the washer for getting cleaned...yes let it dry naturally...not in the dryer
Discipline and organization does make the life less chaotic :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved the way you have displayed your earrings.. did you make the frame yourself?
wow... A neatly organized home.. Oh! I love that crockery space Anpu... I have a weekness for crockery... Can't resist buying something that catches my eye , when I pass that section... Whether I ever put it to use or not is totally something else ;-) ;-) .... And I totally love that trunk...!!
