Hello my lovelies.... I've truly missed you all... Sure hope you've missed me too...
In between all the madness in my life... last week when I was in Mangalore... I happeend to pop into St. Lawrence Church at Attur... Its supposed to be a miraculous place... But isn't as charming as it used to be... I beleive the old building was broken down by a landslide... and the new one.. pic below is what they've buillt recent...
The initial church was built in 1759 ...

Anyway... there is still a small portion of the church that holds on dearly to its old world charm... The tiles below are from the old church... Impressive... isn't it?? The old alter has been renovated... so no pics for you... *smiles*...
In the church compound is also this little wishing well... I thought the ancient architecture of the entire area was mesmerizing..
Anyway... from there onwards we went to Karkala... which means... black stone in 'tulu'... a dialect spoken in Mangalore..
This is Chaturmukha Basadi, Karkala... All built in stone..
One of the prominet sites is the statue of Lord Bahubali, otherwise known as the Gomateshwara... The famous single stone 42-foot (13 m) statue of Gomateshwara (Lord Bahubali) is located on a hill top and is the second tallest in Karnataka. You climb about 400 steps to see this statue...
We arrived on the festive day... supposedly... the festivities take place once in 12 years... and the day we saw Him... the temple was preparing for the festivities... How lovely.. isn't it...
Below are smaller statues excavated from the same area...
