Every piece of furniture or curio … rather… every corner of my house has a story waiting to be told.. This particular time, Ramie & I conspired against Rose… (hope she doesn’t read this)… when we went to this particular shop… Only coz.. Rose is like the ‘finance consultant’ of our household.. She doesn’t understand how sometimes, Patty simply has this urge to listen to her heart and completely forgets about the wallet or credit card… *smiles*
Well… when she saw the bench, she absolutely loved it… Plus it was ridiculously cheap..
Can you see the beautiful carvings…. Do you know why I love this now??
The cushions needs to change… I need happier colours for the summer.. I’m getting there… I am… be patient!!! I’m showing off at Show & Tell , Mosaic Monday, FFF & New Friend Friday
& FFFriday & Crazy Domestic & Funky Junk Interiors
I do think.. that there is now too much of wood at home… and I should break this monotony buy using a off white-ish silk cushion base for the bench… What do you think??
And you think, I am a bit of a show off.... Its all Kamini's fault... :-)
Hey now.....wait a minute! I had NOTHING to do with this showing off, even tho I must admit its a beautiful piece!!!! I like your idea of breaking it up with some ivory/cream base....a nice contrast! Nice buy Patty!
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow..love it!! Just my kind of thing..great find Pat. Enjoy it!!

ReplyDeleteRose reads EVERYTHING. *whips out calculator* And yes, this was a fab buy, I agree. Now let's move on to the other new items of furniture that were purchased sans Rose, shall we?? *grins*
ReplyDeletewow thats a beautiful bench!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of an off white/beige perhaps quilted mattress/cushion base.
I'm all curious to see more!
Cheers

ReplyDeleteLEGEND OF MARY'S BEAN is my Friday blog.
Have a great weekend.
Pat, your bench has been peeping and calling out to me from some of your earlier posts:)>..so glad you brought her out - has to be a girl, no? she is colorfully decked up..
ReplyDeleteI love it!...and love that you got it for a song...must be what inspired Kamini in the first place to write that ode!:P
Patty, I want! Love the carved details! Looks perfect nestled up next to that caaute end table. I actually like the cushions, but want to see more of your magic, so shake it up girl!
ReplyDeleteaw thank you for your kind words! I love your blog too. This bench is FABulous. I really don't even think you need a whitish cushion, the wood is so gorgeous by itself...but I'm sure you can't go wrong!
ReplyDeleteWow, this piece of furniture you found is magnificent! love the carved flowers, a real treat to the eye. And I would add that white silk cushion for three reasons: first it would be protecting the wood, second it's more comfortable to sit on, and third it will make your room warmer and more inviting.
ReplyDeleteGreat find Patty! Have a happy weekend!
What a lovely bench, the carvings are indeed fabulous, and your cushion idea sounds perfect!

This. Is. Gorgeous!!! When I was in Yellow Springs two weeks ago a store had a Tibetan Daybed for sale that had the same carving on it as this gorgeous bench. They wanted $1400 for it. I was missing my rich doctor days because I could picture totally redecorating my porch around that gorgeous piece! Love love love this style.
