Décor for Corner spaces

I’m always in this dilemma… what should I decorate a corner space with?? Inspired by this image - I attempted to decorate a corner of my mom’s bedroom with these -
That didn’t look too good…. So I thought a few Gods would do the trick!!!
I had this for a few months… and then changed it to this…
My daughter broke the Buddha… and I was ever so upset… so I replaced it with something metallic!! I then decided to make it into a punishment corner!!
Finally got fed up of my numerous attempts.. … and still have nothing in the corner space and just a lamp ..
Please let me know if you have any better ideas???

  1. Patricia, actually, I loved the buddha arrangement. The punishment corner made me smile. Did your daughter have to sit there for breaking the buddha? :D

I have a hanging lamp and a leafy pot in one of my corners :) nothing spectacular:D

However, I do have a lot of books in the house, and I always wanted to do one of a pile of books that also works as a side stand, and a comfy seating corner next to it, for anyone who wants to just sit, read a book and chill. The only drawback is, here in India, when the bais come to sweep and clean, it's too much work to get it all out of the way, and then rearrange. So, it's on hold indefinitely, maybe until I move to another country!!

  2. haha..punishment corner. Reminds me of my sis. She sends my nephews to the corner whenever they misbehave. I don't have a huge house, so I literally lack space. My corners are filled with books, storage cubes etc. If I had more space, i would love to incorporate hanging plants, or tall indoor floor plants. If you have good collection of art work, you could probably hang them well. Seating area is definitely a good option complementing with bright pillows. I loved the Laughing Buddha arrangement. The inspiration pic looks beautiful.

  5. Hi Patty,
I liked the first arrangement the best .
My two cents : A small rug, a reading chair on it, a stack of books and a small table (or even a tray on your stack of books) to hold a cup of coffee :)
But wonder how long that arrangement would last with a kid around ..my son loves chaos. so i can only imagine :)

  12. A combination of ceiling hanging(hang them low) lamps in different shapes could work the trick.....or u could also convert a really tall four legged stool as a book stand with....racks between the four legs and top serving as artifact display(Buddha). Colour the stool Turqoise blue or aqua green or just flaming red for some spice:):)Though I really like all the variations that you did....specially the punishment corner.....

  16. Hi, I liked the punishment corner, though it seemed like a pampering corner to me. In space-crunched Mumbai, we are always 'cutting corners' so none are left for decoration. But being a minimalist, I liked your last arrangement also.

  17. Some of your ideas were very special. I only have a corner plant stand with 3 tiers of plants that flower now and again.

  20. Your punishment corner in fact reminded me of a meditation area. Perhaps you can make a little shrine in devotion to the art of relaxation. The statue is a nice addition.

  21. How about a big indoor plant? they add so much warmth =)

or conver the punishment corner into a reading corner? or cover the wall with blackboard paint and let it be the kid's corner to express creativity =)
