Made with love ~ July

June passed by me .... like a flash of lightening!! I'm not sure what happened in June and how I simply had no time to do anything... So many ideas of things to do in my head.... but simply no time to put my thoughts in action...

Anyway... now.. for Made with Love

Now a little about me.... I love love business travel... Firstly, coz I don't do it often... and only enjoy the benefits of being away from home, family and everyday life once in a while....

Secondly... I believe its my 'me time'... Yes.. it really is...

I usually pick a book or two from my bookshelf at home... (I have tons of books, that I haven't read as yet)... and then I pick a book or two from the Duty free shopping at the airport... *smiles*...

And I read... and read... and read... in the airport, on the flight, in the hotel room... And quench my reading thirst for a few months.. I think... *smiles*..

I then utilize this 'me time'.... to reflect on what I do on a day to day basis... What I do with my time and how I can better spend it.... often concluding that I have a lot of time at hand and can do so much more... Which someone isn't the case in practical life... *smiles*...

I also love...  love walking the streets of the town I'm in... walking aimlessly.... and finding new little things... a park, a river, a small temple... a little church.... or a random shop.... I was in Singapore in June... and its amazing how instantly you feel safe walking around in Singapore... One of the days, I walked till past mid night...

Oh.. and then coming back to the hotel room... so clean, neat and tidy... *sigh*... And this is the precise reason, I love hotels... *smiles*... And not only that... Having the TV to myself... Yes!! the TV to myself... No.. I didn't switch it on... I'm not into TV... but the thought of having it to myself... made me super happy... *smiles*

Oh... and the Home Centre sales were on this weekend... which means... I found this little bowl only for AED 14... and the candles for AED 5... Less that AED 20 and look stunning on my table... What do you think?

Have you checked all the entries at last months 'Made with Love'??? I'll be honest, I was too busy to hop on to your blogs.. but promise to make up this week :)

Home Centre ~ makeovers

I've been really excited about the 'Home Makeover' contest that was being run by Home Centre... I've checked out some of the entries on their facebook pages, heard about them on the radio... etc... etc...

The makeovers are not always my kind of style... but there is so much to learn from each makeover... Today I'm going to share two of the winners and their makeover stories...

Watch this video how Abla's childhoom dream became a reality *smiles*.... Its really cute.. and her room has turned out beautifully too... It was her childhood dream just like any other girl... to have a bedroom that treats her like a queen...

The second make over winner is ~ Mohammed Rafiq Pilloor - Jubail, KSA

In the past nine years Pilloor had not had the chance to refresh or redo his bedroom. Having heard of the competition from his cousin in the UAE, Pilloor entered the contest and was one of the winners chosen from the top-voted entries. “I have a bedroom that is completely different and extremely beautiful. I love everything that the Home Centre team has done to renew my room - from the paint to the furniture selected and even the accessories. I will always remember this spectacular transformation and will recommend Home Centre to all,” said a satisfied and content Pilloor.

Get the Look: Comfortable Modern by Ann Hayward, Sr. Visual Merchandiser

Home Centre stylists took up the redesign of Pilloor’s small-sized room as a showcase of optimum utilization of space, infused with warmth and freshness. Earthy tones with combinations of fresh, crisp greens against the dark wood furniture completed the look.

Focus bed with storage; 5-door Focus wardrobe; Chicago shelf matched with Floxite bevelled mirror; Bianco floor lamp; Jubey table lamp; Yellow Dahlia wall décor with over-sized Natural wall décor; Savannah comforter set of 5 with pillow and cushion covers with neutral Bellagio fitted sheets complemented with assorted filled cushions; Alorsea vase and Clarence photo frames added some finishing touches.

Here are the before pics...

The winner with the Home Center team...

Now for the after...

Isn't that a real transformation.... It does have a 'wow' factor to it... *smiles*...

A beautiful home in Tampa...

Today I am going to take you to the sunny state of Florida, to Tampa, where my aunt lives. My aunt has been a major influence in my life. She is one of the few who has so much talent and yet is humble, extremely confident, versatile, hardworking, a big DIY guru, a great cook and a wounderful host. She is crazy about plants and her garden that she tends to herself, has always been the talk of the neighbouhood. People would stop by her garden in the North east, admire the gorgeous flowers blooming...yes she is blessed with extra dose of green magic...

Some sneak glimpses of her home and garden...that I managed to click last week...

the pathway leading to her home is decorated with Crotons, some mini palm trees...

the red sisters interpersed with a kind of philedendrons

Assorted variety of plants...adding lots of color to the garden

By the main door...

Her foyer...

Another corner...an old abstract painting by me up on the wall with the green foliage giving the contrast...

Laundary room passage...yes on the wall is an old Warli painting by me...

Another one by me...christened as "Bhimanna" the Goatherder...

one of the guestrooms...

Notice the saree used as a throw to decorate the bed...my aunt airs her Kanjeevaram sarees this way...Simple and adds the glam quotient...All of the curtains, duvet covers, pillowcases, etc are hand stiched by her...

Hope you enjoyed the post...will share more in the next post.
Adios for now...

The weekly story ~ wk 85

Happy Monday to you all... How have you been? July is the start of our summer holidays in Dubai. This means the kids are at home .. *sigh*... and there is constant planning on things to do...

Well... I'm hoping July will be calmer and I can talk to you about some random decor ideas!!

I've been thinking of giving the home a new look... add some colour to its existing glamour *grins*

So today, I'll show you another little corner of my home.... The little coke bottle came all the way from London... My friends know Im mental about stuff like this...

This is where most guys enjoy their tete-a-tete ... The corner that I call our home bar... *smiles*

These uncomfortable chairs were intentional ... just so that I didn't have a few anti-social ones... However these hardly deter the dudes from spending hours here...

I designed the big brown cabinet you see at the back... to hold our wine cooler... It does look lovely when the lights are on... pic for another time.. *smiles* Do you like what you see?

Here is my little lamp from IKEA... I love that one.. I got it with the intention to paint... but .. but..

Oh.. and these are from 12 years ago... Our little memento... *smiles* ... They remind me of Nigel (Amit's best buddy).... who is no more... As he raised the toast on our wedding day... he was super nervous... and I simply couldn't help but laugh... *giggles*
