Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. We had a mini holi celebration at home!! Here are some pics..

Such an advantage having an absolute mad family around you... where everyone turns up... no notice required.. and even put it up together.. 

So one of my cousins.. got us the non-toxic holi colours all the way from Mumbai, another one made the thandai (a Tarla Dalal receipt)... turned out awesome... another one organised the food.. and another one got us the live chaat station... 

And then there was food everywhere... the golgappas were simply amazing... 

We played like little kids... with colours & water... Oh such fun!!

My Home, My Haven - Durga - Part 2

Still touring Durgas home today and focussing on corners of her home!! 

Here is a little monk. Durga thought that the bamboo umbrella will be appropriate next to him.

This is a Pallankuzhi,a game played with seeds or shells.This is from Durgas maternal ancestral home.

Little knick knacks.. 

This Ganesha is a cut-out from a wedding invite and Durga says she is lucky to have an excellent photo frame shop nearby.The background is raw silk.

The last pic is paddy that is traditionally hung in Srilankan homes as an auspicious symbol.

I love so many little corners of this home.. What do you love??

My Home, My Haven - Durga - Part 1

Welcome to Durga's home!! Sit back with your cup of chai, coz I'm sure you will enjoy being here..

I am a doctor by profession residing in Colombo.I do not own this apartment but I own the space.I think it is even more of a challenge then.

Srilanka is famous for its woven mats which I have used this in the balcony. This was the pic used in the Weekly Story on Monday.

I have a collection of Ganeshas and as you can see I have not grouped them,instead I have used it around the house so that they blend in.

The corridor features an original painting by a street artist and an ikebana arrangement with handmade bird mobiles.

I try to incorporate rustic decor with colour so that it is not too extreme.

My centre table has a Buddha, small artefacts from Turkey and a painted glass candle holder from Vienna.
